Tree Planning and Development Consulting
Trees are among Florida's most valuable natural and community assets. Beyond providing shade on a hot afternoon, they produce oxygen, prevent erosion and storm water runoff, filter airborne particulates, reduce wind and noise, support wildlife habitat, and define the character of Florida's landscapes.
In-House TRAQ and ISA Certification
Excelsior has a Tree Risk Assessment Qualified (TRAQ), ISA-Certified Arborist on staff, so tree inventory, condition assessment, and risk evaluation are handled directly, in-house.
Filling the Arborist Gap in the Site Planning Process
Tree data collected during early site work, during boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and due diligence reviews, often captures location and estimated diameter or caliper, but lacks the species-level identification, health and structural assessment, and regulatory classification that Florida municipalities and counties have begun to increasingly require. All too often, that information gap surfaces well into the site plan review or permit application, which means additional site visits, redesigned tree conservation easements, preservation buffers, or delayed approvals.
Excelsior works alongside surveyors, engineers, and landscape architects from the start of due diligence, providing arborist-grade tree data that can support accurate tree inventory and mitigation calculations, preservation easement placement, and landscape planning. Getting that information into the project early means the project team is working from complete data when it matters most.
Data in the Formats Other Design Professionals Already Use
Excelsior can deliver tree inventory data in formats that surveyors, engineers, and landscape architects work with directly, from simple PNEZD files to GIS formats such as shapefile, geodatabase, or geopackage, CAD-compatible formats, and tabular data structured for mitigation calculations and landscape plans. In most cases, Excelsior's field professionals collect tree location data using GNSS equipment capable of achieving sub-foot positional accuracy with RTK corrections, and that data can drop into existing workflows without reformatting or reconciliation.
Permitting and Regulatory Compliance
Most Florida municipalities and counties require a tree survey or arbor permit prior to development activity. Requirements vary significantly by jurisdiction: tree inventory lists, condition assessment formulas, protected species lists, mitigation ratios, replacement criteria, and preservation easement thresholds differ from county to county and city to city. Excelsior is experienced navigating these local tree preservation regulatory frameworks throughout most of Florida and can identify compliance pathways early to avoid costly surprises during site plan review.
